About Me and this Blog

Although this is a blog focusing on transphobia and other forms of discrimination and societal issues, it’s also a personal blog written by a woman in her mid 40s from the UK East Midlands.

Although always keeping an eye on politics and society, around the time of the Brexit referendum I realised that the society that I thought I existed – a society where people were treated based on who they are and what they do rather than because of prejudices about them based on race, religion, skin colour, nationality, gender identity or sexuality – was at best at risk, at worst was already crumbling. As a result I started paying more attention and was shocked by the lies and disinformation coming from politics and elsewhere.

My first steps were in formulating my political position, one combining socialism and egalitarianism bound up by democracy and the fundamental notion we all are equal in society and all play an equal part in saving humanity.

As for more personal matters, I first realised I was a woman in the early 2000s but having a couple of failed starts at transitioning formally had been trying to ignore it and live without any real changes since but things never improve if you don’t face them and make changes.

In 2020 I started a Psychology degree with the Open University and entering my level 2 studies over the next two years (2021/2 and 2022/3) looking forward to building on my academic knowledge and combining it with increasing campaigning for issues which are important.

My blog here will explore my own feelings as well as address wider issues relating to being transgender in the UK and occasionally world wide.
